iTunes: Purchase from multiple stores?

I live in the US, but the German iTMS offers songs not available in the US store. I figured I'd be able to switch stores temporarily through 'Choose Store' link and then purchase songs as I have from the beginning. The former worked fine, but I get an error that my account is not supported by the German iTMS whenever I try to buy anything. I notice the price difference, but is there any way to get around this?
