i've been running safari enhancer (w/10.3.4); removing underlines from links, and disabling the cache.
but...seems to slow safari down, enough to just be annoying (and sometimes seems to keep the app from quitting...without a long delay).
how else can i do these things? (the underlines from links, disabling the cache)??
thanx!

Would another solution (terminal commands) really solve the slowness?

Safari Enhancer shouldn't be slowing you down -- it's not a daemon (background helper) app after all, all it does is modify some settings files Safari uses. All of these same commands are available from the terminal as well, but if they're causing slowness, then doing it from the Terminal probably won't help the situation.

you can keep links from being underlined by using a custom style sheet
copy this into a file:
Code:
a {text-decoration:none;} !important
or to have links only have an underline when you move over them:
Code:
a {text-decoration:none;} !important
a:hover {text-decoration:underline;} !important
and set it as your user stylesheet
(the advanced pane in preferances)

if your problem is that you are finding safari to be a bit slow, try looking through the tips in this recent thread and see if any of those tips help you out.

Cache is meant to speed safari up. Therefore, disabling the cache may very well slow it down.

funny...i'm the second post on that topic!
it's definitely safari enhancer; with it disabled, safari runs faster (and quits normally)
my experience anyway...

But Safari Enhancer does not run when Safari is running. Safari Enhancer cannot be "enabled" or "disabled" -- it is a simple "switch" program that tells Safari to use some of Safari's own settings. (Even if you delete Safari Enhancer, the changes it made will persist.)
ALL that Safari Enhancer does is to change some of Safari's own preferences. That's it.
ANY problems caused by enabling the debug menu or changing the font settings are being caused by Safari itself.
No alternative program will make any difference, because all they will do is change the same preferences that Safari Enhancer changes.

so...not sure what is happening. i am definitely running faster...can the disabled cache & removal of underlines effect the speed of downloading a page? otherwise...???
