Dear MacNN Forum.
We are currently testing a scoring tool on books, which is helpful if you have a broad search criteria and want to find the best book on a certain topic.
The Webapp is available at
www.amascore.com (if the server is not down for maintenance).
We are interested in feedback. The webapp currently is in beta testing.
The scoring is different from the "average review" at Amazon. Our scoring is also helpful to filter out the bias generated by "self reviews" by the author (see
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/14/te...gy/14AMAZ.html ).
Good queries for the engine are:
- "photoshop" - find the best books on photoshop
- "java" - find the best books on java
- "travel guide paris" - what is the best travel guide for paris
Not so good queries are
- "Asimov i robot" - well, there will be few results and guess what is the top book then.
I am posting this "request for a public beta" here on MacNN since
- 50% of the software is developed on a Mac and I am a Mac software developer
- we are currently evaluating if we should implement a Sherlock Channel for this tool, and especially welcome feedback about this.
- we want to make this tool available to the Mac(NN) community first :-)
We welcome Feedback at
info@amascore.com.
Christian
PS: Limitations are
- in rare cases the server might be down (for maintenance). just check back later
- you may only launch one query at a time. To queries in two different windows will not work.
- cookies have to be enabled
