I am in the process of purchasing Quark (No need to make this in to a Quark vs. InDesign as I use both) and discovered that JourneyEd was offering Quark 6.1 for $249.98. (they only sell to educational institutions which I'm buying for)

HOW THE #$%^ can they do that? The price at the Apple Educational Store is $799!

I realize I probably just purchased the upgrade, but then I found another listing "Quark Xpress Passport v6 Single User Upgrade Mac" for $179...

I'm not paying for it, so I thought I would try and like the cheap guy and buy from here...

Crazy!

I've purchased from them before and other then a broken monitor (Dead on arrival) which they didn't take back (I had to send it to the manufacturer) there software has been OK.

Anyone else use them?

I'd used them back in the day to get photoshop or something. It came thru just fine as I recall.

And they can offer those prices b/c that's what Quark sells them to them for. It's a nice little racket b/c the physical cost of producing software is only a few dollars (less now that printed manuals have gone by the wayside) so companies can sell it for outrageous margins.

Pfft. I wouldn't use Quark, even if it were given to me for free. If you don't have a customer demanding you use Quark, you know what the alternative is

I'm buying it because I keep getting the standard "and we need you to use Cork!"

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.
