Has anyone experienced this? After 10.3.5 update, everytime I fired up Camino (0.8 release) it would trigger update_prebinding and my hard drive would keep thrashing. You can see this from the console log:

2004-08-11 12:25:10.477 update_prebinding[1659] Start of update_prebinding
2004-08-11 12:25:10.500 update_prebinding[1659] Start of search for binaries in packages...
2004-08-11 12:25:10.501 update_prebinding[1659] Discover library dependencies (0/1 complete)
2004-08-11 12:25:11.793 update_prebinding[1659] Discover library dependencies (1/133 complete)

...

2004-08-11 12:25:55.190 update_prebinding[1659] Build dependency graph (0/1 complete)
2004-08-11 12:25:55.225 update_prebinding[1659] Build dependency graph (0/3508 complete)

...

2004-08-11 12:27:17.369 update_prebinding[1659] update_prebinding done. (100/100 complete)
2004-08-11 12:27:17.372 update_prebinding[1659] Update_prebinding done.
2004-08-11 12:27:17.372 update_prebinding[1659] 0 files successfully prebound, 1 files unsuccessfully prebound.

Any way to stop this annoying behavior? Thanks!

All Mozilla releases do this at the moment (very annoying) - it affects all Panther releases as Apple broke something.

The latest Camino nightlies have this prebinding feature turned off, as will the imminent 0.8.1 release.

Does this mean the upcoming version will launch slower? Is it possible to update prebinding correctly instead of just throwing it away? (or maybe I'm missing something here)

As of 10.3.4, prebound and non-prebound executables should launch in nearly the same amount of time.

Cool - just started using nightly again. Now if they can fix the disappearing scroll bar problem...
