I have a very, very strange problem.
On my PC, I use IrfanView to crop my pictures. It's a tiny little program, constantly recommended by Download.com, TechTV, etc. I normally take a picture, fire up IrfanView, crop the picture, and save it. I've never had a problem with it. The pictures are always cropped, and are cropped in the thumbnails as well...
Upon transferring all my files to my PowerBook, though, I've noticed that some pictures (the JPEG's that I never added borders to, or anything...just simple cropping...I believe) are still cropped, but the thumbnails are not! Where on earth is my Mac getting this supposedly deleted information? What the heck? I cropped the pictures!
I'm trying to organize all my photos, and it's really disturbing me that the Mac sees what I deleted months ago...

There's lots of ways to crop photos on a Mac. iPhoto, PhotoShop, etc.

Weird things can happen to the thumbnails after cropping. One of the TechTV girls wound up with topless photos online after the cropped photo retained the original thumbnail.

Yeah, I remember that. She may have used IrfanView, too!
Ugh...any way for me to tell the Mac to re-thumbnailisize the pictures?

Save them again in a program like GraphicConverter. The thumbnails should update.

depends on the program, if your finder is set to not "show icon preview" then the thumbnail is stored as the files icon, most programs should update the icon when they change it (unless they dont change the icons anyway) if you want to get rid of it then get info on the file click the icon and press backspace or delete. Or turn show icon preview on and finder reads the image when it sees it and makes a thumbnail.

ImageWell is the Mac equivalent of what you were using, and it has the ability to remove or create thumbnails too - works as a contextual menu plug-in for the Finder.

Hmm...well...
I fired up GraphicConverter, and then opened one of the files that got screwed up. It gave me a weird message...that it could display it unmatched or matched, or something (and I chose the default). I then chose "Enlarge Preview" and "Create Preview," and then opened it. I closed it right after, without saving. Then, upon looking at the Finder, I noticed that it now displays the picture as the icon. I tried it with another picture, but without getting that unmatched message...same deal. It's the "Create Preview" that's doing that, I believe (I bet this is pretty obvious...).
Anyway, how would I go about removing this? Also, it opens by default in GraphicConverter and shows the correct thumbnail, but when I revert it back to opening in preview, it shows the old, bad thumbnail.
Confusion.

Yeah, I know it was that whore (I hate her). I need an answer to my question, though.
