So, I fired up Chess for the first time in ages tonight. It opened just fine, and all the pieces were their normal pretty shades (in 3D mode, obviously). Then, a moment later, they all turned solid black. I mean, they put the K in CMYK. Really hard on the vision sort of black (but I digress).

What the funk? I searched the forums and couldn't come up with anything. Any clues?

Standard info: iBook G3 900 running latest version of OS.

Cheers!

Does it maintain that after a restart of the machine? Did you try toggling some settings under Chess' Preferences and see if it fixes the problem?

I've tried both restart and messing with prefs. No luck. Can someone verify, is 1.2 the correct version for 10.3.5? Also, where does Chess.app live? It's in my Games folder, and I don't remember moving it (or even playing it on my iBook). However, when OSX first came out, wasn't it in the Applications folder? If it's supposed to live there, that might explain things.

Cheers!

I have Chess as v2.0 under 10.3.5...

That's probably it.

Does yours live in the Applications folder? I assume mine is out of date because it wasn't getting updated with the system in the Games folder.

Cheers!

Never-mind! I just found the new version of Chess in my Applications folder. I've learned my lesson about moving things from there. Thanks for the help anyway goRickey.
