I would prefer to use Safari as my browser of choice 100% of the time. However, I am having a problem with the UPS website.

When I generate a shipping label at UPS online, the site generates a pict of the label. Since the Browsers formatting does not match my mailing labels, I have to then drag the pict label from my browser and drop it into an AppleWorks document. I then print it from there.

I don't mind necessarily not being able to print right from the browser, although it would be nice. Anyway, the "real" problem is that the quality comes out so grainy that the scanners at the UPS store can't read the bar codes on my labels. What's weird is that if I do the same thing using IE, the quality is excellent.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening, and/or how to fix Safari???

Thanks.

are you sure what you're dragging is a PICT? (and not some other graphic format?) Have you tried dragging and dropping on TextEdit to be sure it's not some bizarre Appleworks issue?

What about just dragging the picture to the desktop and printing it with Preview?

ah ha! Actually, I did it backwards. I had an old label saved in AppleWorks and it said that image was a PICT. However, I just created a new one from Safari and dragged it to the desktop and it's telling me it is originally a GIF.

When I printed the .gif in Preview the resolution was excellent, but the size was huge. Any ideas?

Try exporting the gif from Preview as a jpg and see if it will print as good and is smaller.
