Hi all,
We have just implemented a new management system at the uni I work for that that has a java applet front end. To access this on the mac, I am using Safari 1.2.2 on Panther.
I am having issues in that font smoothing is not being applied to the applet, causing some of the really small fonts to be un-readable. I have the system font smoothing preferences set to the lowest (size 4) and a font smoothing style of strong.
When I test it on the eMac with Jaguar and Safari 1.0 the font smoothing works, and when I use Firefox with Panther it also works. I do have to make it work with Safari as we have hundreds of machines that come with that standard.
Also, the developers of this app have designed it for much lower resolution screens, which is why our mac users are forced to use this app with such small fonts. As the screens are LCD, changing off their native resolution introduces blurring. Anyone know of anyway to force applets to resize (never heard of any), or know of any hacks around this issue?
Any help of both of these issues would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Liam
