Wondering if you plug something into port out of your keyboard, is that as good as plugging something into the computers port?

ahhh...
read your post title, and thought you were trying to shoot your usb hub...was going to suggest you load the gun...

plugging into the computer is essential for some things (powered by usb devices, for example; my music keyboard)

but many things can run from a hub; printers, cameras...

try it, if it works, you're in business.

Is plugging in from port on keyboard as stable, for troublshooting purposes as plugging into computer port?

No. The keyboard is itself a USB hub, and it doesn't provide nearly as much power as a powered hub does. You should plug the hub into a USB port that is directly on your computer.

fwiw:
this is the software forum, your question really belongs in Peripherals.

i've just suggested you try running what you want thru that port;
however, you didnt specify what "troubleshooting" is in this case, but, yes, plugging directly into the macs usb ports is probably a better move.

anyway good luck!
