Netscape still crashes when I attempt to do a search of my Bookmarks from within Bookmark Manager. I have well over 1,000 bookmarks and it has crashed since upgrading to 7.1. I really don't want to use a third party Bookmark manager, but would like to fix this in Netscape.
I also wish this newest version didn't limit the search engines to just Netscape; v7.1 let me choose Google to use as default search engine. Any idea how to have it use Google?

Try switching to Mozilla. Netscape has ceased development, and is always less stable than the newer Mozilla releases.

It has not ceased development. The user used Netscape for a his/her liking of it.

mycroft.mozdev.org I think is the URL for the extension to do this.

Netscape 7.2 is just Mozilla 1.7 with Netscape branding - there are no full time Netscape developers anymore, and the unaltered Mozilla suite offers greater functionality.

There is no reason to use Netscape over Mozilla. The faster Netscape dies and disappears, the better.

Well, I think it Netscape's heart stopped but it has been brought back from the dead... Why is it better if it goes away, the more choice the better!
One reason to use Netscape over Mozilla is that AIM is built in? That's right isn't it?
But iChat is much better and Mozilla will always be several steps ahead of Netscape...

Well, normally that is the case. Problem with Netscape is that it renders 99% of things thew same as Mozilla (same engine) but it completely stuffs some pages up, that Mozilla handles fine. Frustrating for Web Developers to have to spend extra time to make a site work in Netscape, when Mozilla is the better, and almost identical browser.
The only reason people still use Netscape is because they have 'heard of it' from 1994 days, and don't seem to be with it enough these days to have heard of Mozilla.

Some people won't use Mozilla, but will use Netscape. They trust the name. Oh well.
At least they are not using IE.

I remember the days when Netscape was actually a decent browser.

Thanks for all the help and guidence. Seems Mozilla would be the next logical step up from Netscape from what I've read here and on other forums. It's just hard to change gears on a new browser after 14-years of daily use.
Used to be when Netscape was king, but now I see tons of new browsers on the market; Omniweb, Mozilla, Firefox, Camino, Thunderbird, Safari, etc. I really don't have the time and patience to test all these new browsers, but I'll give Mozilla a try.
Thanks again for all the input.
At least I still have a good working e-mail porgram....Eudora for 14-years and still working ;-)

Good Choice! You will find Mozilla to be 99% the same as Netscape, so it shouldn't take long to get used to. By default searches go through Google, and not Netscape, and the logo is obviously different. Other than that you should simply find Mozilla to be a slightly faster, and less buggy version of Netscape which is certainly a good thing.
(next step, Migrating from Eudora to Mail )

At this point, Mozilla isn't new. It's just Netscape that's old. I recommend Firefox over Mozilla, since you don't need the mail client. They're very similar otherwise.
