This has happened once or twice in the past and I didn't pay much attention to it, but it happened last night and again just now; while watching an original (not a copy) DVD in full screen mode on my Rev. B Dual G5 1.8 (ATI 9600XT, 1.25G RAM, 10.3.5) the video froze and the audio started skipping. Command-option-escape does nothing, I had to power the machine off and restart. When it happened just now, a screen popped up telling me to hold the power button down to turn off the machine. What gives??? These three or four times with DVD Player are the only times my new Mac has ever crashed. I install all of the latest updates from Apple, so the system is up to date. Any help is appreciated.

Not sure if this is related or not. I just got the same machine (dual 1.8GHz G5 Rev B, 9600XT) and tried to play Diablo II LOD. When trying to modifying the screen resolution, it starts "skipping" - playing the same half second or so of the music that was running at that time and the system froze (wouldn't respond to any mouse or keyboard input). I shut down by holding the button down and went back to D2 and it was fine.

I tried playing a couple DVDs today, too. An old B&W movie (Marx Bros "Night at the Opera" had a funny dashed line running through it horizontally, about 1/3 of the way down the screen. Then I tried a modern movie ("Mona Lisa Smile") and it just looked horrible - green dashes all over the place, almost like the "Matrix effect" (the green letters).

WTF?

Happened to my PB 17 Rev. A once.
Don`t have any idea how and why.
