Seems the 10.3.5 update has rendered my external Firewire combo drive unable to play DVD movies with DVD Player. Why does Apple seem to go back and forth on allowing this?

Any solutions?

I know there was a hack around that would let you watch DVD's in an external drive, but I cant find it anymore.
