I am trying to use Quicken 2004 to look at various expenses. I want imported transactions to automatically be assigned a category per my quick fill table. Discussions with Quicken staff have been fruitless so far, any ideas?

Sorry - all I can tell you is that I never got this to work either. I ended up switching to iBank anyway, but during the years I used Quicken it was always a two step process of (1) importing transactions, and (2) assigning appropriate categories

I wanted everyone to know that I solved my Quicken problm. A shareware program titled GIFmaster preprocesses GIF files and provides categories to the transactions per rules provided by the user. Sweet little program.
