i'm posting from my 15" superdrive powerbook which i bought today and i got to say i am in heaven. i dont know what took me so long to switch. i am totally enjoying the simplicity of osx and am looking to take advantage of all it offers. this brings me to my question. i am currently using a hotmail account to communicate with friends (yeah i know i should get .mac but this purchase drained my bank account and as i am a broke college student i will not be able to purchase .mac for a month or two) and was wondering how i would go about configuring the mail app to work with my hotmail account, if it is even possible. my main problem is with what to put in the outgoing mail server SMPT. the hotmail help site only has explanations of how to use the account with outlook. if anyone has any idea of how i would go about this or if it is even possible or if anyone knows of any other free mail clients that would work i would greatly appreciate it. thanks.

Mail supports any standards-based email account. Microsoft, of course, doesn't support standards and has tried to prevent people from using non-Microsoft email clients to access Hotmail. You should try to get a different free email account.

With that said, try this plug-in.
