Hi All,
I've got a playlist of songs on my G5 that I'd like to move to my iBook. I haven't found any sort of export/copy function that applies (well, I can export the playlist itself, but that's not exactly helpful :-).
Can anyone point me to a possible shareware app that'll help me out? (or have i missed something in iTunes itself?)
Thanks in advance!
Chas

Easiest way is to transfer it the way you'd transfer any other data file. External drive, burn to CD (as data, not Audio CD format), network, FireWire target disk mode, et cetera). I'd suggest target disk mode: start up one computer holding the "t" key, and it will act like an external drive. Run a firewire cable between them, and drag your files where they need to go.
If you have an iPod, there are utilities that will allow you to move songs straight off the iPod... but with the mobility of an iBook, I don't think this is really necessary, unless you lack the cabling (firewire cable or network cable (not necessarily a crossover cable these days)).
If the trouble is finding the song files themselves, you can ctrl-click it in iTunes and select "Show Song File" or something similar... I forget exactly what it is. It will open the Finder and highlight the song for you.

The advice is appreciated, thanks.
Firewire transfer mode is how I'll eventually move the songs (natch, fastest way!), but my real problem is how to use the playlist I've painstakingly built as a method of easily locating and moving all of those files.
You see, the files are organised (courtesy of iTunes) into their relevant folders (as I'm sure you know, artist:album). I certainly can use iTunes to find the files one by one (command-R for "reveal"), but the playlist is 150 songs or so strong and it'd be a huge pain to find and copy over each song one by one.
I was hoping for an app that would look at my playlist, find all of those songs and collate them for me on the other machine. Failing that, this playlist is _just_ small enough to fit on a CD, so I can still sneakernet them over to the iBook.
_Wish_ I had an iPod to use!
Thanks again for your advice,
Chas

If you have one playlist of stuff you wish to copy over via Firewire, just click on the playlist in iTunes, and then select all tracks on the right-hand side and drag them to the appropriate Finder window.
They will be copied there.
Easy as Macintosh.™

I can't vouch for this, but check it out...
