I found this little gem on versiontracker and a search in these forums revealed no other threads about it:

FinderSync
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/24607

It's a preference pane and tells the Finder too update when the file system has changed. It's almost spooky to see the Finder update in real time in the background again. Like in the good old OS9 days.

I haven't had time to test it thoroughly - concerning stability, processor cycles etc. but up until now it seems to behave like a model OSX citizen.

Have I told you that it is freeware?

I'll give this a shot. I haven't really experienced much of a Finder delay (or I'm just used to it by now) but this sounds good...

I just installed it on my iMac DV. WOW!!!!!!!!!!
When I use my epson scanner and let the desktop be the destination folder, it takes ~ 8 seconds before I see the jpeg appear. Now its instant!!!!
When I change a folder icon using a simple copy paste its instant here too.
This is a really nice program. Thank you for this great freeware!!!

which proves that it is the little things that make up the Mac experience. Apple, how come that something basic takes you so long?
