I was wondering if there is a way to make directories for play lists? For example, when I have several play lists for an artist. I want to put all of that artists play lists in a directory. This would make it much easier when I am looking for a play list on my ipod. Yes, I know that the ipod has the browse function but it does not always organize things the way I want it to.
While I would think that this would be a basic function in iTunes I can not find any way to do it. Is this a function that apple just does not support? If so, I sure hope that they add it in the next version of iTunes - it is one of the more obvious improvements that they need to make.

If I understand you correctly, you're asking for nested playlists. iTunes does not have such a feature.

Based on your other comments though, it sounds like you are one of these people with 49 billion playlists, duplicating albums and other things that really *are* better accessed through the "browse" function. (Browse->Artists->[Choose Album or "All"]->[Choose Song]).

I can conceive of you having a playlist consisting only of certain songs from a variety of albums of a single artist - but this is such an odd situation, it's really not "one of the more obvious improvements that they need to make."

Yes, nested playlists is what I am asking about. However, as to how you should be able to access your songs, I think that Apple should provide the users with as much flexibility as reasonable possible. A nested playlist option would be a good way to do this. Anyone that likes the premade browse function can use it, and anyone that wants to come up with their own sorting scheme could then do so. I am not bashing the browse function. It is a nice function, and I am glad that they put it in. However, I think that it would be nice to set up my own directory like organization in the playlists. Directories have been around since shortly after the first file system was invented; are they really too much to ask for?
