Just got done transferring files from our old iMac to our new one. I also added some things from my Powerbook.
My user account has my music files. We have a shared folder that has music files for the other accounts. Some of these are the same as in my folder.
I attempted to drag files from the shared folder to my home iTunes folder (mine is much larger). Did this thinking it would avoid duplicates. Our goal is to throw away the shared folder, and place my music folder into the shared folder. (4 users on the same iMac).
When I open iTunes from my user account, it does not see the new songs I added manually from the shared folder. If I use the consolidate feature, won't this create duplicates?
How do I get iTunes to see these files?
