sometimes i double click a video clip and the video is frozen but the audio plays.

then if i close the window and try again, everything works. this happens randomly but enough to make it annoying and have me post this problem here. any suggestions?

please help if you can.

AVI is not a video format. It is a file format. So, I'll ask again, what format is the video? The answer is probably that you don't have the right codec to view the video format. Once you know which format it is, you can go about finding the right codec.

go to versiontracker & download an app like VLC; it can play those files.

sorry im not sure what "format" it is. i'll check when i get home. the thing is 90% of the time is plays the same files fine. then it will mess up and play only audio.

double clicking it again makes it play fine.

its just clips from my canon digital camera.

Then it's probably Motion JPEG, and the issue isn't the codec. See how useful more information about the format was?

If it's Motion JPEG (open the movie in QuickTime Player, then Get Info to find out), I'm not aware of any known issues. It may be a freak bug. Get more detail about the movie's specs, and report it to Apple as a bug. Can you reproduce it?

thanks. im home and checked. it's motion jpeg open dl.

i can't reproduce it on the same video clips. it just happens randomly. audio plays, and video is stuck on the 1st frame.

i can reproduce it by playing the clips. eventually one might not work right away.
