I'd been using AutoMail with OS9...the OSX version seems to be busted somehow.
Any recommendations on a good bulk e-mailer for OS X?

Thank you!

Maildrop?

http://freshsqueeze.com/products/maildrop/

Haven't used it, but I use a couple other FSS products, and really like them.

I've read thru the manual, which is pretty badly written, and got to sending mail, which failed because "could not establish a connection with the SMTP server."

I have my smtp server in the MailDrop settings...not much more I can do from this point, except go back to the extremely inefficient, labor-intensive method of hand-mailiing each e-mail.

I gotta say, after 2 days of researching programs, bulk mailing on Macintosh stinks a mile high!

it stinks!

Perhaps that's because bulk email is intrinsically evil. I'm sure you have a legitimate use for bulk mailings, but most who employ such programs certainly do not. There are other alternatives, like Yahoo or Topica, for example. Or you could get together a MySQL database and configure a mailer for yourself. All sorts of options exist.

SPAM is evil; what I'm doing is making personal inquiries as to who I should contact at companies who might use my service.

I can do it "by hand," sending each e-mail-that functions. But if I'm sending the exact same e-mail to 300 people, why should I be punished because bulk e-mail is 'evil?'

I'm an illustrator not a porn monger...I trying to use the computer and internet to reach out to thousands of potential clients (ad agencies) who might benefit from commissioning work from me.

Setting up MySQL, or writing an apple script or writing a program might all be viable methods for some people, but writing software or scripts just isn't my strong suit..that's just not what I do.

(sorry for the rant, but I've just learned that the past two days of my hard working time have been flushed down the drain. I've really been working hard on this one..)
