I did a search and couldn't find anything, so here's the question:
How the heck do I turn off the feature where the most recently loaded window in IE jumps to the front of the screen? I do a lot of my browsing in Explorer and this feature is driving me crazy. I usually have four of five windows at loading at a time, and if something is loading in the background, it just pops up when it's done, breaking into whatever I'm doing (usually entering text).
Please don't tell me to switch browsers, I need this for my job.
Thanks.

Switch Browsers anyway
Serious question: Have you tried whatever site/s you need for you job in Firefox, or are you taking their word for it that the sites you need don't/won't work in anything other than IE?

sorry - I don't think you can turn this off (in some cases, I believe it's in the website code).
Just like trying to block pop-ups.
Seriously though - there's almost nothing that can be done in IE that can't be done in some other browser - and it's not like the Mac IE uses the same rendering engine as Windows anyway (so it's not good for checking compatibility)

Actually, I think it's a feature of OS X- not individual websites. I recently updated from 10.2 to 10.3 and that's when it started.
The web panel we use only works properly in IE. All other browsers do not display properly.
Thanks.

well it's not OS X - as other browsers don't have the same problem. Some website have code that esstentially tells a window to come to the front once the site is loaded - this may not be the case here - it might just be IE doing it - but regardless, there's no way to turn it off, short of switching browsers.
As for compatibiilty - if you're positive nothing else can display your web panel properly, I guess you are stuck. But this moving-to-front bug along with the security problems and overall slowness of IE are good reasons to encourage your company to switch to something more compatible (even if only to mozilla-based browsers)
