I have a sermon that I imported into iTunes using AAC format. I then burned it on to a CD. It burned as an AIFF file that can be played on a stereo, but it will not play on my father's PC running Windows 98 (or a friend's PC also running Windows 98). Can anybody tell me why? Could it be related to the fact that I imported it into iTunes using AAC format?

I know one thing, it is very frustrating that it plays fine in a stereo CD player but will not play on my Dad's PC. If anybody has any insights, I would appreciate it - thanks.

No idea. Try playing it through iTunes for PC. Can you just press play on the CD drive and play the CD, or does it have to go through software? I know my old PC could play CDs this way, but that was about 4 years ago.

Unfortunately, my father has a PC running Windows 98 so iTunes for the PC is not an option. When he puts the CD in, the CD player opens and the clock shows that the audio file is playing, but nothing is coming out of the speakers. We have made doubly sure that his speakers are on, etc.

Does a regular audio CD work, one you bought from a music store?

What about other CD-Rs? Same type or a different type?

If he has a Windows 98 PC chances are he has a really archaic optical drive mechanism that could quite possibly be choking on your CD-R media. Just a thought.

Some old CD-ROM drives don't deal with recordable CDs well. As Angus suggested, try burning another CD-R and see if that works.
