My searches don't reveal that much of anybody tries to burn CDs with AIFF format, but I sure need to so that I can share my recordings with the folks (who have old CD players that can't do mp3).

iTunes (v.4.6) says that "no selection in this playlist" can be burned when I try to burn any AIFF file (either one that I took from a CD or my own recording that I converted from mp3 via an iMovie export).

Is the a "pirating protection" issue? I really don't care about copying files from CDs, but my own recordings I sure need to be able to get onto standard AIFF CD format.

Doesn't ANYBODY do this (on a Mac)?

iTunes can burn standard Audio CDs. In the iTunes->Preferences->Burning select Audio CD as format.

Thank you. I had no idea it was set to default to mp3 burning. I used the "Audio CD setting" and was able to burn a 27-minute AIFF track.

HOWEVER: The CD burned with the AIFF registers as ERROR in every CD player I try it in.

Anything else I should be doing?

it doesn't default to mp3 cd format unless the playlist you're trying to burn is too long to fit on a standard audio cd.

As for why you're making coasters now - are you sure there's not a problem with your AIFF file? Why not try it with a fresh source? (like from newish CD)
