I admit that I am no geek, but sometimes willing to try things.

Also I realize there are a good number of worthwhile Applications around that will perform what this script is about, but I'm merely wanting to give this a go just to see if I can do it.

The Applescript mentioned in this link allows one to resize either single or whole folder of images.

Problem is I don't know how to turn the script into an Application,it probably means accessing Terminal, which I've never done for fear of making a mistake and mucking up my good working system, nevertheless exactly how does one turn a lump of text into useable software.

Maybe there is even a script or other App that can turn lumps of text into usable software ?

When you save the script from Script Editor (Applications->Apple Script->Script Editor), the save dialog has a popup menu that lets you choose to save as application.

Copy/Paste the script posted on that site into "Script Editor"...then:

File > Save As > File Format: Application

It's that easy.

Yes well it if it were that easy I wouldn;t have bothered asking, but
something must be amiss.

When I select new script a window opens with the name of the document as 'Untitled'. Then when I go Save as no dialogue box appears, instead a window pops up saying can't as anything but

"The Script File Untitiled wouldn't compile, you won't be able to save it as a compiled form "

Eh ?

Hmm, it worked for me just now. Must be something unique with your set-up I suppose...

Not your day is it?

Something sounds amiss with your machine - try repairing privileges (/Apps/Utilities/Disk Utility)

I think there is actually more depth to my problem.

When I press command f in order to find 'Script Editor', the finder only acknowledges finding 2 copies of System 9 Script Editor, although on my boot drive I have an OSX copy of Script Editor ????

Might this mean that that component is busted or something, or might it even mean that the finder itself is flawed ?

Further to this I have never really had an easy time actually Finding that many things via 'command f' ?

It doesn't make a lot of sense I have never had any reports or problems with OSX Software Updares, (I am running The latest that Jaguar has to offer).

Plus once every 20-30 hours I run Mac Janitor and approx. monthly do the Norton thing from the other drive, always ending up with 'No Significant Problems found' Report.

Although I must admit that I havn't thus far run all that many scripts, I have always wondered why the Script Editor or at the very least an alias of it isn't available from the Actions Menu at the right hand top of the screen ?

I did continue to try that script I posted about even with someone else watching over the steps I took, and alas we're stumped ??

Can anyone help unblur these dilemnas please ?

The Finder is flawed, but that is unrelated to your problem.

You will have to use the OS X Script Editor which is located in

<your hard disk>/Applications/AppleScript/Script Editor

If it's not there you could try to extract it from the OS install CD using Pacifist or do an Archive & Install of the operating system.
