I recently got a new Palm (Tungsten E) to replace a Visor handheld. Both were running Palm.
My question is that I can't seem to find the calculator program for the Tungsten. I installed from a disk, but don't see a calculator program on that, either. The Visor -- which obviously is pretty darn old -- has the calculator program on it, various books show the Palm having it, but I don't! Can't find it, am wondering ... where is it? Am I confused (quite possibly, as I'm on prescription pain medicine!
Can anyone offer any help? I'm trying to get my new baby all set up. Have already gone through syncing difficulties, etc. etc., and have figured all that out. I hope anyway.

The Calculator program is on the installation CD. You have to install it yourself (I don't have my Tungsten E installation CD with me to tell you where to find it... come back Monday and I should be able to tell you).

I've looked on the CD, and unless it's got a different name, I cannot find it. Somewhat aggravating. But if you can let me know where it is on yours, I'd sure appreciate it. (Or if anyone else knows, feel free to chime in!)
Thanks.

I think it's called "PowerOne Personal..." something. Weird name, and it sucks that it shows up in the application list as that rather than just "Calculator." That was the one thing that pissed me off about my Tung-E when I got it... why can't they just put a calculator program on the Palm itself along with all the other standard programs? Whatever.

Nope. That's a third party program. There is indeed the Palm branded calculator on the CD.

Well, I found the "Personal Power" one, and it does indeed have a calculator. But I sure can't find the calculator one on this CD anywhere, unless it's called something else.

You know, I said it was new, but I bought it on ebay. I wonder if the previous owner, for whatever reason, deleted the calculator application. Maybe I can have one beamed to me from another Palm.

No, the calculator application IS on the CD. It comes new in the box without the Calculator program preinstalled.
Speaking of which...
I checked the CD, and you have to install the Palm Desktop Software from that CD. It will install those files (along with the Expense program, the Photos program, and Documents to Go 6) into the install files on handheld option. The first time you HotSync it will install those applications.
No, I don't know why PalmOne didn't include the applications separately from the Palm Desktop Installer. As to the reason those programs (Calculator, Expenses, and Photos) aren't in the device's ROM, if I recall correctly the Tungsten E was rushed to market (and production) before it was completely finished, so they decided to include those programs separately (where they could eat up user program space instead).

After a lot of research, and contacting Palm directly (I've been very pleased with the company's customer support, by the way -- very fast, very thorough, very helpful -- what more can you ask?), I've found the program is indeed on the CD, hidden inside the desktop installer. Then I had more problems, because I'm using Missing Sync! However, all is installed now -- and thanks to everyone who helped out. Hopefully, anyone who's having similar problems will be able to find this information useful, too.
