I didn't buy it w/out checking first, my father did. I can't find a manual for it and apple's isight page doesn't list it, but the sales guy told him it would sync w/ a mac. anyone know?
Also, what is the standard that all these phones have that make them sync w/ iSync?
thanks!

well I've got an LG U8110 and I can't figure out how to sync it with my mac either, though I would really really like to. But then I can't sync my psion either, and I therefore want a new T5/T3!

Unfortunately, as you noted, there's no support for LG phones in iSync, as noted on Apple's list of iSync-compatible devices.
There is the open source BitPim project, which appears to be able to provide you with access to the data in the phone from a Mac, but that's about it.
From what I've been able to learn from reading about iSync around the Internet, most of the iSync phone interfaces were custom-coded. iSync appears to be a closed platform: there's nothing for developers looking to get their devices supported under iSync on the Apple Developer Connection.
Bluetooth under Mac OS X supports OBEX, as described in The Apple Developer Connection document Working with Bluetooth Devices and other documentation on their Device Drivers Bluetooth Documentation. Support for OBEX appears to be how iSync communicates with the Bluetooth phones it supports.
However, having a Bluetooth phone does not necessarily mean it will work with iSync: the phone also has to support OBEX. Some Bluetooth phones support SyncML instead of OBEX. SyncML is a technology initiative of the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA).
While Apple stated in their PDF iSync Product Overview that they have "...publicly endorsed SyncML as a future direction for iSync," iSync does not support SyncML. One wonders if and when that will happen as Apple is not presently listed as a member of member of OMA.
Bottom line: if you want a phone that works with iSync, it had better be listed on the iSync-compatible devices page.

Extra bottom line: if your dad really bought it on the promise that it would sync with a Mac, he should take it back and complain.

Yeah... I'm thinking that is what we are going to have to do.

Sync in Tiger is based on SyncML, which should open up a lot of support for more BT phones, notably Nokia Series 40 and new S60 phones, as well as a lot of other BT phones coming to market.
