Hi All,

I hope someone can help me with this.

My Cube running 10.1.5 has been running flawlessly for awhile now.

I went to start it up today and it freezes at "Starting Port Manager" and will not do anything past that, powered off, restarted, same thing.

I can boot to OS 9 and the machine works fine in OS 9 but will not boot to OS X.

Right now I am trying to fix the disk using Disk First Aid, it found some errors, fixed some but can't fix them all. Still won't boot to OS X

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

You're going to need either Alsoft Disk Warrior 3.x (DW3) or Micromat TechTool Pro version 4 (TTP4) to attempt repair the disk.

I do not recommend using any Norton Disk Utilities.
Good Luck!

I would start by booting into 'single user mode' (hold down command-s on boot IIRC), and then enter 'fsck -y' and attempt a permissions repair.

If that doesn't do it, then look into third party disk utilities.

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies.

Update!

I tried using the Unix command 'fsck -y' and nothing changed but I remember I had DiskWarrior 2. something.

Booted from CD and it repaired my drive and away I went

Glad that worked for you.

You might want to consider upgrading to the latest version Disk Warrior, e.g. 3.x, at some point as they have improved their algorithms and 3.x has some improved checks. If you have 2.x, as you indicate, the upgrade is available at a significant discount.
Good Luck!
