What do you mean by "the production suite?"

If you're talking about one of the Adobe Suites, e.g. the Adobe Creative Suite, yes. Have lots of RAM.
Good Luck!

I think he/she might be talking about Apple's production suite. FC Pro HD, DVD Studio Pro, and Motion.

If it's adobe your talking about, then it should work cherry.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

Ah ha. I see this is now featured on Apple's home page. I must have missed the announcement about this bundle.

The hardware specifications, which differ for each of the components of the Production Suite, are listed in the column at the right of this page.

I suspect his question is "Does a PM G4 DP500MHz meet the minimum CPU requirements."

It certainly meets the CPU requirements stated therein for FCP HD. Motion and DVD SP list 867MHz and 733 Mhz, respectively, single-processor G4 Macs as the minimum, and I think a DP500 may fill the bill.

However, the problem is "will a PM G4 D500 support any of the required graphics cards at the level required for Motion?" The graphics cards one could get BTO with an PM G4 DP500 aren't up to the specs of Motion.

Motion requires a 4X AGP slot. If memory serves, the PM G4 DP500 has a 2X AGP slot, so that's a deal breaker for Motion. The recommended system for Motion is listed here. Of course, it will run on less and Apple wants you to buy a new DP G5, but a PM G4 DP500 won't meet the specs of Motion if I'm correct about the AGP slot.

So, it doesn't look good for using the full Production Suite on a PM G4 DP500and US$800.00 isn't going to be enough.
Good Luck!
