I pray that some of you can help me here-

A week or so ago I started having problems with Photoshop CS- and now the same thing is happening to Flash MX!

When I try to save anything, I get an error message saying 'Failed to save. The file could not be found'

This is a serious problem as I have not been able to save any work / turn my machine off for ages now!

Can anyone PLEASE help!! ??

You may have more luck in cross-posting this type of question over at Apple Discussions forums as well.

Hi-

Yes, I have since been able to save as.

However I cannot save for web in Photoshop. very annoying.

Also, Flash has just been unexpectedly quitting more than usual recently. Any ideas of how I can fix this. I've heard of repairing Disk permissions. How do I do this, and will it help?

Many thanks-

al

To repair permissions:

In the applications folder look for the utilities folder.

Open the app called Disk Utility

Select your disk

Click Repair permissions.

Well, hwatever Repairing permissions did, it didn't work

When I save for web in Photoshop CS, at the last minute I get this error message:

Could not complete this action. The file was not found.

Does anyone know what's going on?

cheers-

You might want to try and reinstalling the applications giving you trouble.

"Save for Web" actually opens up Adobe ImageReady, a separate program, doesn't it? Maybe that program got uninstalled by accident.

Do you have DiskWarrior? If so, I'd run that on your hard drive - there may be some directory problems.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

not at all true...i removed imageReady when i first bought cs, yet "save for web" all the time.

i second the suggestion to try diskwarrior, has saved me on a few occasions.

sounds like a permission problem to me!!

get info (select folder in finder, and do command (apple) + i)... check permissions and see if you have the READ/WRITE rights to the folder you want to save your files to.

Yes. This definitely sounds like the problem to me.

I understand you probably won't have all of these, and might not have any, but answer the ones you can. Can you save to:

A different hard drive?
A different partition on the same hard drive?
A floppy?
A network drive?
A pen/thumb/jump etc USB drive?

Perhaps booting from your OS X install CD/DVD or the CD/DVD that came with your machine and running Disk Utitlity from there would do the trick... try it, and repair disk AND repair permissions (yes, again, this time from the CD).

In terms of Diskwarrior, does anyone know how much it costs and where I can buy a copy?

http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/index.html

it's 80 bucks or so from them... you might be able to get a discount elsewhere, find some sort of sale, get educational pricing, or something else... look around before plopping down 80 bucks. It is a fair chunk of change, but it's cheaper than getting a new hard drive and you can reuse it if needed ..... plus, if you have data that you currently can't access, sometimes retrieving that is invaluable.

Personally, I'd look for another solution first, because of the price. If the price isn't a problem or you really need the problem fixed ASAP and don't mind not completely exhausting free alternative possible solutions, then go for it.

checked a bit more, seems amazon has it for 70 bucks
