What software for the mac can do it. Retrospect was working for me, but it isn't now in panther and the interface is immensely complex. Is there a simpler solution? I'm backing up photos to either CD or DVD.

What version of Retrospect are you using? If 5.x, upgrade to version 6.x as there are some problems with 5.x under Panther which 6.x cures. See: Known Issues When Using Retrospect 5.x With Panther (Mac OS X 10.3).

I'm using the freshest version of 6.

I would rather have my archives readable by any computer, and not dependant upon retrospect software to open them. I am backup up JPEG and PSD images....
