Anyone use this? It seems be be getting lost even though FireFox is a hit.

If you don't like Apples Mail I guess this would be a nice alternative:

Way back in the before time, I used mozilla mail...
I switched to mail.app, and have never bothered checking into thunderbird.

Have you tried it?

I use it daily for three mailboxes. It works pretty well on my configurations (dual G4 10.2.8 and powerbook 10.3). I pop and Imap sonme of my mails. The spam filtering capaibility is great and I have had no false postivive up to now. I had a little issue when upgrading from 0.6 to 0.7, but non when I upgraded to 0.8. I've been using it since 0.5.

The news reader is netscape like, and I don't use it much (I use MacSoup to deal with usenet).

Thunderbeird never crahsed on me yet.

GIve it a try I really think it's worth it. Seems speedier than Mail.app, which I've stopeed using since I've resign my .mac membership.

I've been using Thunderbird for about a month now. I like it quite a bit. There are a lot of little things about it that I like, so it'd be hard to list them here.

One thing that is very cool is the RSS feeds feature. You can add RSS feeds just like you would an email account. The feeds then appear as a mailbox (like your email accounts) and the new articles appear similar to unread email. If you ask me, I think this approach makes more sense than the web browser approach... just my opinion though.

I'd recommend giving Thunderbird a try. I like Mail.app, but I might sound crazy for saying this - sometimes I get the impression it's not actually checking my mail. Don't ask me why... it just seems that way sometime... haha.

I use and recommend Thunderbird on the PC, but on my powerbook I use Mail.app. I think Thunderbird's probably my second favourite mail application, after Mail.app .

I'm upgrading a work PC to Thunderbird right now. It's gotta beat QuickMail Pro for Windows!

I downloaded it to have a look at it but didn't actually set up any accounts. Looks nice but I don't see any reason to use it over Apples mail.

I used it before, when I had a wintel. But after the switch I've stuck with Mail.app

Tbird doesn't seem to offer much to Mail users. It is pretty nice though. The one thing that I hate about Tbird and Firefox is the lack of support for the keychain. They have a proprietary password thing. Don't like it. I like to keep my passwords in one spot, and as the keychain can be accessed by any apps, it is the best place IMHO.
