I'm having problems transferring a mailbox from Apple Mail on one Mac to Apple Mail on another Mac.
To export the mailbox on my PowerBook, I simply drop and drag the file from Mail to the desktop, creating an mbox file.
When I try to import the mbox file on my wife's iBook, the problems begin. I've tried 3 different methods: (1) I go to File->Import Mailboxes. I select import from Mail for Mac OS X. Mail finds the mbox file and tells me that it has successfully imported, but it's nowhere to be found. (2) I go to File->Import Mailboxes. I select import from Other and then Mailboxes (mbox format). Mail claims that there isn't a valid mbox to import. (3) I bypass Mail's import function and simply dump the mbox in ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/Saved Items and re-launch the program. Mail includes the mbox in the list of folders in the drawer, but when I try to open the messages, it claims that they haven't been downloaded.
The bizarre part is that I if I re-import the mailbox on my PowerBook using methods (1) or (2), everything works fine (haven't tried (3) on the PowerBook). The problem only arises when trying to import the mbox file on the iBook. This made it seem like a permissions/ownership problem to me, but I've tried playing with the permissions and ownership to no avail.
Any suggestions?
