Hey, I've been playing around with VPC 7 and it seems that it contains hardware acceleration for some parts of the interface like a cursor. Using the script menu you can disable it, and it warns that it requires a Radeon or a GeForce card.

I like it so far. Much better than VP6. Works pretty good for visual studio.

Is this coming from a G5 or a G4 prospective?

I'd like to try it, but I get an error whenever I try to install XP, something about a parameter incorrect and a file missing. I've installed XP on pcs with this disk without problem, so huh.
Sorry to go off topic.

1.5 GHz G4 with 1024 MB Ram. Though, I'm using Windows 98 and 2000 and not XP.

It's really interesting. You can tell the cursor is being drawn in hardware, because if you drag the mouse to the right of the VPC screen, you can see the mouse being drawn off the screen.

What? VPC has always done this with the additions installed.

You again?
: groan :
Look, VPC has hardware acceleration, its in the AppleScript menu, and is on by default. Turning it on says you need a Radeon or GeForce card. You can get VPC7 and see it yourself. It even uses the words "hardware accleration".
Anyway, as for draw speeds, it seems much faster. The fading in and out is clean too.

This is nothing VPC 6 didn't already have.
Unless my copy magically upgraded itself to version 7 when I wasn't looking. But I doubt it.

Really? I've got version 6 and I don't see that option anywhere. In fact, I don't have a script menu at all. Win2K is installed on the disk image, fyi. What am I doing wrong?

I'm using 6.0-something, not 6.1. Perhaps that's the difference.

That could be. When I purchased VPC, it was only available as v6.1, so I can't speak for 6.0.x versions.
But, the overall point being, cursor support preceded version 7.
