When I put CF cards into my FW reader Image Capture box comes up and I always have to dismiss it. I think it's image capture (box says import from camera -- grey out).

Below that dropdown of things like Epson Scanner etc.

Its a real pain.

I've unchecked all the boxes in Image Capture.

I brought up Epson scanner software. Dont see any preferences there.

I even trashed image capture it still comes up. Do I need this app?
I unchecked all right things in pref. does not seem to help or disable it. thanks.

I've been trying for several years still to lick this. No one at Apple or on forums has figured it out.

do you want to use iPhoto to capture your images by default? instead of image capture?

if so I believe you just open up image capture..go to preferences and where it says:

"When a camera is connected, open: " select iPhoto.

I prefer image capture because I take photos and avi clips and iphoto will not download the movie files.

then instead of choosing the "iPhoto" or "Image Capture" options in the above mentioned preference, choose "do nothing" (sorry, I'm not at home to check exactly where you set this)
