I know there have been posts backand forth on the value of .mac, with many people areguing people can get the same services for less. A year ago I plunked down $100 to get the service and have basically liked it fine. Yes, it's probably pricy, but I liked it for its integration and its simplicity, and I re-upped recently (though for less! on amazon.com)

I also recently got a new Palm and have been really good about entering all appointments in my desktop (using ical), then syncing to the Palm and also to my laptop, using isync. A few days ago, one of my daughters was using the laptop. "Uh-oh," I heard her say. "I have dance rehearsal in 15 minutes!" The reminder had popped up on the screen. I had completely forgotten (one of those days with SO MANY things on the clendar I was focused on the most urgeant, which was a choir concert that night.) Off we went. We were in time.

So you see, .mac has its uses!

(I also put together a Homecoming Dance photo page in about 15 minutes, sending the link to all my family and some close friends. Worked out great. Far from professional, but I didn't want to spend a ton of time on the project. I just wanted people to be able to see my girls.

Err, isn't it iSync and iCal that helped, rather than .mac?

Using your portable device means you could cut .mac out of the picture and still have made it to the appointment on time.

Hmmm -- possibly! But don't you know .mac to use isync from computer to computer? That's what saved us -- I wasn't paying any attention to my Palm.

And whatever -- it just helped. Some people won't be persuaded anyway.

It was the syncing between the two computers, which is .Mac.
