I'm wondering if anyone has installed this little monster. I'm tempted to stick with 6.1 for a while because we all know the printers will not install it until sometime next year.

I'll be installing it tomorrow at work, but only on one machine, I'm sure that there'll be problems that I'll have to iron out before the rest of the department can go to 6.5. I just hope that they've fixed the crash on launch when Suitcase has fonts loaded temporarily as this has been a pain since 6.0 was first released. Ah well, tomorrow I'll know for sure, but I'm glad we have InDesign CS to fall back on if all goes wrong

Known QXPress 6.5 bugs for Macintosh

* Attempting to open a project (located on a network volume) from the File List area (File menu or Open submenu) displays “File not found [-43].” Click OK in the alert to display the Open dialog box

* The values for a rotated picture in a layout display incorrectly in the X+ and Y+ fields in the Measurement palette when you click the increase or decrease arrow.

* Using an AppleScript to print only the odd pages of a layout prints all the pages instead.

* The content mode in the Tools palette changes to item mode when you duplicate a table; however, the Tools palette still displays the Content tool.

* Attempting to save a project after you changed the project’s auto backup destination from a read-only folder to a folder with full permission (Preferences dialog box > Save pane > Auto Backup checkbox > Destination area), displays an alert stating that the required volume or folder was not found. Saving the project with a different name or at a different location (File > Save as) displays an alert, “Unknown Error.”

* If you use an AppleScript to name a table named and save the QuarkXPress project as a QuarkXPress document, the table loses its name.

* Accent marks on capital letters such as Á or É do not display in the first line of the text in a layout, even if you choose Cap + Accent from the Minimum pop-up menu (Modify dialog box > Text tab First Baseline area). However, this is only a display problem.

* Opening a QuarkXPress 3.x document containing an image with a clipping path displays an incorrect value in the Type pop-up menu (Modify dialog box > Clipping tab). As a workaround, open the 3.x document in QuarkXPress 4.x, save it as version 4.0 document, and then open it in QuarkXPress 6.5.

* You cannot export a QuarkXPress layout as a PDF file (File > Export > Layout as PDF) unless you set a generic printer as the default.

Some unknown bugs for sure, but this is good in general. The old Quark didn't update XPress this frequently.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

I just had an 80 quark 6.1 file that wouldn't PDF any way I tried. Downloaded and installed the update and it PDF'ed no problem. So at least one thing seems to be fixed. BTW it loaded a lot faster as well.

No kidding... I also hear that 7.0 is solid in the works... which is amazing considering Quark would wait years before even UPGRADES.
