yikes!
my girlfriend has 22G of music in her itunes folder...
turns out most of the files are aif...
she moved them into itunes, not converting them to mp3s.
is there any sane way to convert these files?
in other words, they are in her library, and sorted in folders.
how do i fix this??

Go into your iTunes prefs (well, her iTunes prefs) and change the encoder to MP3.
Now go into her music Library and Select all tracks. Go to the Advanced menu, and select 'Convert to MP3'. It will take a while, but it will be done. When it is finished, just delete all the AIF files.

won't this leave everything in the itunes library window? and will it also convert those files that are already mp3s??

It will convert all files that are selected (including mp3 which are selected).
Do Edit->View Options and turn on the Kind column and sort by it. Then select all the AIFFs.
