Here's an email I sent to Panic ...

And here's the reply from Mike...
Hi,
People have asked about requesting a "throttle" and it's something
we're looking into in, but probably won't be added to the next release.

Does anyone else think this feature should be added ASAP? My download speed crawls when I upload anything since I'm unable to throttle the upload speed.
Mike's email is transmit@panic.com for anyone interested

I'm wondering what features they do plan on adding, since it seems like up/down speed limits would be a logical one. My only other complaints are the lack of Kerberized FTP support and the queue needs some major fixing.

While your request is 100% valid, I think that you aren't necessarily their target audience. That's a very specific request... and probably something that is beyond their specific control as I believe that they use open source components to create Transit (my favorite FTP GUI of all)
I wonder if any of them have that feature?

It's a a good idea, but I can imagine the market for it is relatively small as how many people are uploading files of such size that it saturates their pipe for extended periods of time?

You can count me in. I sometimes have 200-300 Mb sites I need to transfer and it kills me waiting for the upload to finish (especially with a 1500/256 ADSL link)

My #1 request would simply be a smarter program, that keeps track of all files that aren't uploaded for any reason.
Sometimes Transmit will say things like "server said ?" or "could not upload item" or "server closed connection". Sometimes this is due to it being a US-based server (when I'm in Australia), sometimes its my net speed, sometimes who knows what it is. But basically, I want it to automatically keep trying to upload those items. If the server disconnects, reconnect and keep sending.
I don't want to have to click 'OK' every time an error occurs. Just log it, retry, and keep going. None of the 'babysitting' I sometimes have to do while uploading.

This is what I wrote to Panic around June this year:-
Just thought I'd pop a line to see if it was feasible to add a file 'filter' to uploads/downloads?
I'm transferring a lot of web sites and web apps that use CVS, and it would be great to add a filter to my current open session, so that when I performed a manual upload/download or a synchronise, Transmit would automatically perform a match (or regexp) on 'CVS*' and silently discard filenames that match that criteria from the queue (in either direction).
For example, you could then build a profile of 'filters', so that 'Filter 1' disables CVS files and any folder starting with 'test' and 'Filter 2' disables all files except for those ending in '.php'. That way you can have plenty of flexibility when maintaining a site without having to perform lots of manual checks. It could also be linked to bookmarks, so that when I select a bookmark, the associated filters are automatically switched too.
For me, that would make Transmit a REAL killer!
Another small but irritating error that happens is when I'm uploading 50 or 100+ files into a folder and it turns out that ALL those files are existing and not writable - I have to then manually select 'cancel' for each error that Transmit throws
Is there a way to let Transmit know to 'skip this folder' or 'don't warn me again' for those errors? I'm not so fussed if I don't get to see which files are throwing errors (as I can see them in the transcript), more that I'd like to walk away from a large transfer without worrying whether the whole process is being held up by one dialog box.
This is what I got back:-
I'll add your ideas to our feature requests, it's good to get feedback from "power users".
...so either they've forgotten about Transmit or something exciting could be in the pipeline
