when trying to use isync i get the following error;

Wednesday, November 10, 2004 9:49 PM
Assertion Failed!
Expression: IsOpen()
File: Source/f1shared/f1clog.cpp
Line: 575
Assertion failure: File Source/f1shared/f1clog.cpp, Line 575: IsOpen()

it happens when trying to just sync my contacts from address book or if i'm trying to do my bookmarks too. i tried at least 5 times on two different days. i hadn't heard of any other isync problems so i'm guessing it's my system specifically. what does the error mean anyway besides that it won't sync?

assertions are used in programming for code error checking. they check to make sure that at specific point during an execution that certain conditions hold true. its good practise and in this case has probably stopped iSync wrecking your data.

as for what it means and what to do about it i'm not sure, you'd need to speak to someone with more experience with Cocoa and who knows what IsOpen() does and what f1Clog.cpp is.

if it were me i would try repairing permissions since it looks like the app is having trouble opening some file.

this is post-10.3.6 update with negative results as documented here
so i asssume that has something to do with it...I have repaired permissions using Cocktail though too.
I'll try it on another mac to see if I get the same results...

nope, seemed to work fine on the work G4 I have. no errors to report. is it recommended to trash the com.apple.isync.plist in the users preferences folder?
