It's been released, for those who are interested in a top quality & unobstrusive Task Manager.

Looks nice, but I'm still looking for a to-do manager that has an idea of mine: I typically forget to look at my to-do list, so things tend not to get done. If the list could come to me from time to time, it would be useful.

How does the list come to me? I'm thinking about the way that Synergy can bring up a transparent dialog regarding the iTunes song that just came up, leave it there for a pre-defined time, then fade it out.

If every once in a while, the specific items that I have enabled as "actively remind me" at "this frequency" would just float up, be seen, and go away. Like Synergy alerts, one could click through them, with the addition of a "close now" GUI element.

Anyway... this just seemed like an opportunity to toss out that concept. I don't expect to gain the skills to develop it anytime soon, so if someone wants to run with it, more power to 'em. In the meantime, I'll be checking out what Burnout Menu 2 offers.

Seems a pretty swish little to-do manager, but C.J. Moof has a pretty good point. Maybe Burnout 3?

Yes please.

In a thread hijack note, which is better PS2 or Xbox - housemate is buying one. I have the king (Gamecube) so I don't care really

Definitely the Xbox-version. The graphics are crisper and it feels more hi-res than PS2.

already use check off [started using it again since BM has been kinda MIA] .... but not too keen on the Check Off interface anymore; it used to be great under the previous developer.

... I like the High Priority interface, and I'm trying to figure out a way to use this program and not have it interfere too much with my items in iCal ....

there are loads of others - menucalendar clock (free if you don't use the ical integration) is a good example - try searching in the forum for that, should come up with lots of options. Personally I like the integration, but am loath to give up on something I paid for (just about the time cliche software imploded - thanks for the lack of feedback ambush!).

menucalendarclock doesn't allow you to "add" notes, it only taps into iCal.
