I tried searching the forums for a clear answer to this issue to no avail. Is there a clean and efficient method by which I can keep my iTunes libraries on both my TiBook and G4 in sync? Doesn't have to be automated. In fact, I think I’d rather have some degree of control.

I've thought about using one of the many backup/sync applications out there to just sync the two iTunes folders, but methinks that would end up screwing things up on one or both Macs.

A VersionTracker search yielded little, but did show this:
http://homepage.mac.com/oligrob/sync...yncOtunes.html

I'm a bit hesitant as it looks buggy.

Can anyone offer some help? It is much appreciated.

Edit-Please be aware that I own all the music on both Macs. This is in no way an attempt to pirate copied music.

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

[sorry] BUMP [/sorry]

C’mon.... there's no way I'm the only poor slob trying to do this. Does no one have any suggestions or solutions?

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but I eventually just bought an iPod for this. I keep all my music on my desktop and sync it to my iPod. When I'm at work on my iMac or somewhere else on my Powerbook, I plug my iPod in and listen to the music off it.

Not exactly cheap, but it really works nicely. And if you don't already have an iPod, you should get one. They really are phenomenal little gadgets.

Cheers

In theory I do this by using Chronosync, which is a syncing application. (I do keep my major documents synced between desktop and laptop with this, by the way.)

The only reason I don't do a complete syncing job on itunes is that I started out just transferring files from the laptop to the desktop. Now files are in so many places ("unknown albums" and "unknown artists" and the like that I wonder if I'd screw something up by doing a full sync.

But just because I created a mess doesn't mean you have to! Use a syncing application.

Crooner,
I used this application after reading your post and found it to work very well. I didn't have any problems with lost or repeated files. Give it a try. It works!
