I'm using Word X and have a problem. i want to know if it's fixed in Word 2004 because I'd actually upgrade if this were fixed.

Import a picture. Draw a box over part of it. Make the box any color and then make it partially transparent (approx 50%) using the Fill and Line portion of the palette. Choose Print and then Save PDF. The resulting PDF looks like crap using Word X. The translucent box is turned into a nasty screen. Given that PDF is PostScript, it should look gorgeous. Perhaps this was fixed in Word 2004?

Thanks

Your problem can be solved with Word X.

Draw the box as before and open the Format AutoShape dialogue. On the Fill Color drop down box choose Fill Effects. On the bottom left of the Gradient tab choose Two colors. Set both colors and their transparencies to the same values. Click OK twice and create the PDF again.

Good luck.
