I tried several Forex trading platforms. Initially I was only able to get
www.ac-markets.com Flash version to work which was horribly slow. My machine is an iMac G5 1.8Ghz with Mac OSX 10.4.2. Most of the trading software, although Java based, explicitly tell you MAC NOT SUPPORTED. What's the point of using Java then? They should just do MS Visual Basic.
Anyway, I found one that works and even through my firewall router without having to open any special ports. Go to
http://fxtrade.oanda.com.
They even have a Java test to help you identify compatibility prior to running the trading software:

Just look for the Java test link.
Oanda is a registered FCM with CFTC and a member of the NFA.
Mostly positive reviews for Oanda on Elitetrader:

They have an unlimited demo account whereas most sites expire after a short number of days. I ran the java client from the Firefox browser on both WinXP and MacOSX and it looks and works exactly the same. Seems to have quite a few more features than looking at virtual tours for other forex trading clients, although I'm new at this market.
To be honest, I had upgraded from the standard Java that ships with OSX Tiger that I installed the J2SE from the Apple support site:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...0release1.html
This may be a necessary step for the Oanda client to work on MacOSX as I never tried with the standard 1.4.2 Java.
Hope this helps anyone else. I wasted several days trying to track down a Mac supported Forex client software.
