I could use a little help with this. Have about 60 GB of music all put into categories, by composer, artist, etc.

Aliased my iTunes Music folder to the hard drive, put all of my categorized tunes in their.

When I tell iTunes to import the music, all the categories are goobosh! Which means, just songs..without respecting the hierarchy I spent hours creating..which means I have to do this all over again on iTunes.

Is there a way I can make iTunes respect the structure that's meaningful to me?

thanks!

iTunes creates it's own hierarchy (sp?). What you want to do is turn of the automatic library management (in the Advanced section of the iTunes prefs). After doing that you'll need to drag and drop your music collection into iTunes. Remeber tough that when you add a song to your library you first have to put it in the location where you want it and then drop it into iTunes. I really advice against this method. I don't know why you would use your own hierarchy since iTunes can automatically manage everything. Brownsing your music through the finder is just making things hard on yourself and it's a typical innefecient way how things are done on Windows. BTW the hierarchy that iTunes creates is pretty logical.

PS: what do you mean with "Aliased my iTunes Music folder to the hard drive, put all of my categorized tunes in their." ?
