Hi There,

I got asked today by a neighbour to help her install Macromedia Studio MX on her computer, unfortunatley although I know Windows Inside out and Linux pretty well, I've had no real experience with OSX at all.

My problem is that on attempting to launch the installer file either for the whole Studio Suite or for individual apps it throws an error asking which aplication to open this file with. If I do 'get info' on the installer files it recognises the file/s as a Unix Executable which is what I'd expected.

I decided to be clever at that point and leave well alone until I've asked someone who knows what the are on about with OSX. It did occur that maybe I need to be admin or root to be able to install software, or am I missing somthing obvious?

Unfortunately for me the only person who knows less about OSX than me, is my neighbour ;-( so no help there.

Any suggestions much appreciated

Dysonco
