Okay, so I'm trying to copy a DVD I own for backup purposes, and I'd like just the main movie, no extras. The movie is the Iron Giant, SE. Anyway, I used Mac The Ripper to remove all the encryption crap, and wound up with a video TS folder. I checked it with apple's dvd player, and it plays fine. I then tried to use DVD2ONEx, and it doesn't work very well at all. 95% of the movie is fine, but there are these parts that 'skip'. It plays the same 1/2 second about 4 times in a row, then moves on. I don't get it. It's not even reading from a disc, it's a folder on my hard drive, and the disc definitely isn't scratched, because I checked the vid folder from Mac the Ripper, and it's fine during all the skippy parts.
Any ideas?

hmm, kinda new to this dvd burning stuff, but it sounds like dvd2onex is the problem - i'd try different software (unfortunately i've never used dvd2onex). i've had success with roxio's popcorn (newly released), and if the main feature alone doesn't require re-compression to fit on a single layer dvd-r, just use toast to burn. other thoughts... try different dvd-r media? i've used memorex dvd-r media without problems, and have heard good things about verbatim dvd-r media.

But Popcorn doesn't remove encryption, and it only works WITH a disc inserted, it won't work from a video_ts folder. This means I can't use it in this instance. As for media, I'm using sony media...but it isn't the media at all. Like I said, i checked the video TS folder AFTER using DVD2one, and it's already glitchy, before it's even burned.

Uhhhh. Popcorn works from a TS Folder. You have to select that option from the main Popcorn window.

i use mactheripper in conjunction with popcorn. popcorn works with a video_ts folder. if the video is fine (non-glitchy) after mactheripper, popcorn is worth a try for compression and burning (just use toast for burning if the main feature is small enough).
