Here's the problem:

My fiance and I have an ibook and a powerbook respectively. But, there are windows programs we need, in this case GRE test prep software.

For some reason that I cannot fathom, the software works perfectly under VPC except for one huge problem: it doesn't tell you your score after finishing the test. I've used the same cd on a windows computer, and the scores are displayed. Under VPC I'm given a bank area where the scores should be.

Why would a program behave differently under VPC than any other windows machines? Is this normal? I hope there's some way around it... my fiance is already threatening to go windows.

Have you tried clicking Print? I haven't tried printing from VPC in a long while, but if you can get it to print out PDFs (or just onto paper if it's that urgent) that may be your ticket. It doesn't fix your problem but at least you can see the results.

As for why it's not displaying, maybe the software tries to display those scores through the video card as some sort of security feature, much like Apple's DVD player and how you can't take a screenshot of video. Since VPC emulates a very old video card, perhaps it fails when trying to draw the text thru it. Why your practice test scores would need to be protected is beyond me though.

I'd be curious to know if pressing Print Screen on the PC you tried it on would copy said results into the clipboard or not.

Good luck

It would also be interesting to know what version of Virtual PC you're using, what version of Windows, and what the specs are on your Mac. That may be of some help.
