I recently burned a music cd in iTunes with sound check enabled and I noticed when I played the cd in my car there were differences in sound quality between songs.

The songs that were decreased in volume sounded fine, but the songs that were quieter before sound check was enable, and thus had their volume increased, sounded very bad - like the volume had been turned up too much (even though there wasn't much difference in the actual volume of any of the songs).

Is this something happens because of iTunes and sound check or do ya'll think it's the songs themselves?
