I downloaded Thunderbird yesterday - but can't figure out how or if it's possible to set it up for my .mac and yahoo mail accounts.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Yahoo only works if you paid for POP access I believe.
I thought .Mac was essentially just an IMAP account.

It is, I think you need to enter imap.mac.com (incoming) and smtp.mac.com (outgoing).

.mac has POP access, actually. The POP server you want to use is mail.mac.com

I have my .mac account working perfectly in Thunderbird. To send mail I had to enable TLS (not SSL) in the Outgoing Server section of the Account Settings thing.

.Mac supports both IMAP and POP.
I would STRONGLY recommend using IMAP, though, unless you want all your mail deleted the server when you check it.
Sure it's possible to set it so this DOESN'T happen, but it's not the default for most POP clients, and if you're not totally on the ball it will check and delete before you've changed the setting to "leave on server."
IMAP is just a ton better than POP -- especially in Mail.app which does a great job of caching.
